At the same time, we are discouraged from flaunting our femininity in business environments because it “weakens” us.

Our society and culture should do away with this idea that femininity is not professional.
It perpetuates the “Plain Jane Persona”. As a result, women STRIVE to blend in and unconsciously practice diminishment on a daily basis. They don’t want to trigger other woman (or society for that matter).
The infamous “side eye”, finger pointing and jaws dropped. It’s one of the reasons I compliment women.
“Love your hair.”
“Where did you get those shoes?”
“I want that dress.”
When you admire something about another woman,

On the other hand, we can’t be too masculine or exert masculine energy without being called
the “B” word or a “Nasty Woman”.

I’m Ungenita Prevost, and I think it’s time we Embrace our Femininity In The Business World.
You see, this issue plagued me my whole life. I LOVE every aspect of being a “Girly Girl”, but I also LOVE strutting into the boardroom and commanding respect, too. So naturally when I started my own company I thought I would have to turn it down a notch. As a business woman I often questioned my persona (worrying about what other people would think of my image) with my hand on my hip justifying my femininity.
“Doing your hair, makeup and dressing up is not superficial. In my world it’s called FEMININE EMPOWERMENT.”
It wasn’t until several years ago after reflecting on my life, what I’ve accomplished and what I’ve overcome. I proclaimed…ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and unleashed my unapologetic point of view and feminine leadership initiative. My big hair, pink lipstick, skater dresses and stilettos have nothing to do with what I CAN DO!
